Hughes wins Anglo drilling contracts

Hughes Drilling (formerly known as Every Day mining Services or EDMS) has been awarded the contract for blasthole drilling at Anglo American's Foxleigh coal mine.

According to Hughes it will begin mobilisation of two new blasthole rigs to the project in late December, with first operations commencing in January next year.

While Hughes has not stated the size of the award, it did say the project will generate revenues over an initial three years through a rolling 12 month contract.

It went on to state that "as a consequence of this contract the company has taken delivery of or has outstanding contract backorders for six new blasthole drill rigs, bringing the blasthole fleet size to 33 rigs".

The contract will use Reichdril rigs on site.

Hughes changed its name from EDMS in April this year.
