Hughes Drilling enters administration

Contractor Hughes Drilling has appointed McGrathNicol as administrators.

The company employs 140 people across WA.

Jason Preston, Shaun Fraser, and Jamie Harris were appointed as administrators for all Australia aspects of the company, including subsidiary JSW, although the US subsidiary Riechdrill Inc. will continue to operate.

According to McGrathNicol, “the administrators intend to continue to operate all business units while they undertake an urgent financial and operational assessment of the business.”

Earlier this year, JSW won a number of drilling contracts in WA, including a two year extension to its existing contract for work at Ramelius Resources’ Mt Magnet gold mine and a new contract extension for work at South32’s Boddington bauxite mine.
