Horse rescued from abandoned mineshaft

A horse has been rescued from an abandoned mineshaft in north Queensland after spending almost seven hours trapped.

The Cairns Post reports the horse fell down the 5 metre shaft yesterday and suffered shock and hypothermia.

Rescuers attached slings to the horse and managed to lift it out with a backhoe.
