Heron Resources has awarded Ertech a $12 million earthworks contract for its Woodlawn zinc-copper project near Tarago in New South Wales.

The scope of work for Ertech covers construction of the main road access from the sealed Collector Road, process plant site levelling and foundation preparation, haulage road construction from the plant site to the underground box cut, excavation of the box cut for the underground access and construction of Talising Storage Facility 4.

Woodlawn, located 250km southwest of Sydney, is expected to produce around 70,000 dry metric tonnes (dmt) of zinc concentrates, 30,000dmt of copper concentrates and 25,000dmt of lead concentrates annually.

Heron said this is the last of the pre-financing material contracts to be entered into, with the contract remaining subject to a board decision to proceed after the successful completion of the Woodlawn project financing process.

Earlier this month Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) Metals was awarded the base metal concentrate offtake from the Woodlawn project from the start of production until the end of 2021.

Heron also awarded  a $107 million engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to Sedgman, which involves the development of a 1.5 million tonne per annum (Mtpa) processing plant to produce zinc, copper and lead from underground and tailings ore.
