Recruiting firm Hays has launched a new major projects jobs website where jobseekers can view the opportunities available on major oil and gas, resource and mining, energy and construction projects in Western Australia.
Dedicated to jobs on major projects, from design through to construction and engineering, the site can be accessed at www.hays.com.au/majorprojectswa
Commenting on the site’s launch Simon Winfield from Hays in Western Australia said: “With 57 major projects underway or in the pipeline in the oil & gas, resource & mining, energy and construction industries, Western Australia will create a record number of major projects jobs. Already Western Australia shows the greatest jobs market strength of all states and territories in Australia.
“Given the size and scale of upcoming major projects, the demand for skills will only continue to rise. This boom cycle is expected to be even bigger than the last, when the number of mining jobs alone peaked at 73,500 in mid-2008. So we know that demand for staff is going to be huge.
“There’s typically a great deal of interest from candidates in jobs on major projects. The size of the projects, their long lifecycles and the stability they offer are attractive. This site will be their resource for all major project jobs.”
Hays defines a major project as an extremely large-scale investment project, typically costing more than AUS$100 million and attracting a lot of public attention because of substantial impacts on communities, the environment and budgets.
Major projects include major transport infrastructure, resources and mining projects, power plants, dams, wastewater projects, special Economic Zones, oil and natural gas extraction projects and buildings.
