Harlequin gold mine remains closed after rock fall death

Central Norseman Gold's Harlequin mine remains closed by orders of the West Australian Department of Mines and Petroleum as it continues to investigate the cause of a deadly rock fall.

New Zealand father of three, Wayne Fowlie, was fatally injured following a rock fall at the mine on the 15th of February.

A  DMP spokesperson told Australian Mining investigations are still underway, with operations at the mine suspended.

There was no word on when the investigation was expected to be completed.

Operations at the Norseman’s Bullen underground mine recommenced last week after a prohibition notice issued by the DMP was lifted.

Production at the North Royal pit and the mill are continuing as normal.

Mr Fowlie was the fourth fatality in the WA mining sector since August 2013.
