Grange Resources announces new CEO

Richard Mehan has been appointed as the new head of Grange Resources.

Current chairman of the miner Zhiqiang Xi announced that Mehan will step into the role from 6 August.

Mehan has had more than three decades of experience in iron ore and was previously the CEO of Jupiter Mines.

The move comes after current CEO Russell Clark resigned from the company, after serving as CEO and managing director since 2008.

"Russell [Clark] has managed the successful integration of Grange and Australian Bulk Minerals", Xi explained, "[he has also led] significant improvements and increased production at the Savage River operations and has advanced the Southdown magnetite development project through to the completion of the definitive feasibility stage".

Clark stated that he has moved on as the company is now "well positioned, [so] it is an appropriate time for me to seek other challenges".

Clark will officially leave the company on 15 September to ensure a smooth handover to Mehan.
