Up to 50 new jobs could be created if Dominion Mining’s expansion in South Australia goes ahead, Dominion operations manager Peter Bamford told the ABC.
A feasibility study to expand the Challenger gold mine in SA’s north-west is to be completed in March.
Gold prices have recently been nearing record highs, with prices approaching $1500.
According to Bamford, if prices maintain their current level, jobs for misplaced workers may become available.
“We haven’t laid a single person off, we’ve no need to,” he said.
“The situation has changed in a very, very short time.”
