Focus Minerals has ambitions of becoming a 100,000 ounce per annum gold producer within 12 months, after completing the $16.96 million refurbishment of its Three Mile Hill mill this week.

The company yesterday announced it had finished commissioning and completed the first significant gold pour from the mill on Wednesday.

The Three Mile Hill facility is located at Focus’ growing Tindals Mining Centre in Western Australia’s Eastern Goldfields.

The company said the plant now has an annual ore capacity of 1.2 million tonnes, which will increase its production to 80,000 ounces this year and more than 100,000 ounces in the next.

“The Three Mile Hill plant will enable the company to cut operating costs and benefit from a more consistent production profile,” Focus said.

The refurbishment work program began a little over eight months ago and was completed by contractor Como Engineers just prior to Christmas.

Earlier this month, the company announced it had started a milling campaign at its Greenfields mill.
