The 25th Diggers & Dealers conference gets underway today, with the price of gold – the metal the conference was founded on – at near-record highs.
The West Australian reports that gold will get a lot of the attention at the event. It will showcase the Perth Mint’s Australia Kangaroo One Tonne gold coin, the world’s biggest and most costly, which contains about $60 million worth of gold.
“With a passion for gold and an advocate of the industry, the Perth Mint is proud to showcase the coin at Diggers during its 25th anniversary year,” the Perth Mint’s CEO Richard Hayes said.
Lithium will also feature highly at the Kalgoorlie-Boulder event, and has emerged as a hot commodity in the state.
The most recent Department of Mines and Petroleum pegging figures were the highest since 2013, and many of the applications coming from lithium explorers.
