Glencore Xstrata director resigns

Glencore Xstrata has announced its director Steve Robson has resigned, effective immediately.

The resolution to re-elect him will be withdrawn at the company’s Annual General Meeting today, the company said in a statement.

The resignation comes just two weeks after Glencore and Xstrata merged to become Glencore Xstrata plc to create a mining company rivalling BHP Billiton.

Before the merger went through, several managers indicated they would be departing once the merger was completed.

Xstrata CEO Nick Davis said he would be stepping down, with Glencore CEO Ivan Glasberg assuming the role in the combined group.
