Glencore has extended Alliance Aviation Services’ air charter contract at the Clermont coal mine in central Queensland by three years.

Alliance has provided charter services to various Glencore operations since 2003 and to the Clermont mine since 2015. The contract is now in place until 2021 following the extension.

Lee Schofield, Alliance chief executive officer, commented: “We are very proud of this extension as it provides great acknowledgement of our ability to provide Glencore with safe, reliable, and cost effective services from Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Emerald.”

According to Alliance, the contract was retained through a competitive tendering process.

Glencore manages the Clermont operations as part of a joint venture with Sumitomo Corp. Both companies own around 25 per cent of the mine.
