The Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM) and Northern Territory Resources Council (NTRC) will host a Uranium Industry Public Information Evening on Thursday 11 June at the Darwin Convention Centre.
The free public forum will feature two sessions in which leading experts will give short presentations about key issues in uranium and will be available to answer questions.
AusIMM chief executive Michael Catchpole said the forum will provide public stakeholders with an opportunity to access the most up-to-date information about the industry, delivered by people who work in the industry.
“The AusIMM and the NTRC are committed to transparency and a consultative approach for all mining activities,” Catchpole said.
“The uranium public information program was successful at last year’s AusIMM International Uranium Conference in Adelaide and is an important part of the industry’s commitment to engaging with and informing the community.”
Speakers at the forum will include the chair of the Federal Uranium Industry Framework Mark Chalmers and senior representatives from the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency, and the Northern Land Council.
