Vysarn subsidiary Pentium Hydro will provide Fortescue Metals Group with drilling and construction services under a new contract.

The agreement for hydrogeological bore field drilling and construction services is for two years’ worth of work with the option for a one-year extension.

Pentium will work across Fortescue’s iron ore mines in the Pilbara, including Cloudbreak, Christmas Creek, Solomon Hub and the Eliwana project.

The work includes drilling and installing production, injection and monitoring bores to support Fortescue’s mining and exploration across the Western Australian sites.

Vysarn estimates the value of the work, based on average rates and average metres drilled per month, to be approximately $13.3 million for the initial two-year period.

Pentium has already completed work at the Christmas Creek site, having mobilised the dual rotary drill rig and associated auxiliary plant during October.

After completing this work and the award of this contract, Pentium anticipates it will include mobilising the second dual rotary drill rig in January 2020.

In 2019, Pentium Hydro has also been contracted by Roy Hill and at the Tropicana gold mine joint venture. These contracts have also been for dual rotary bore drilling services, as well as reverse circulation drilling, minor civil earthworks and rotary air and conventional drilling.
