Former BHP chief joins Orica board

Former BHP head of aluminium, nickel, and corporate development, Alberto Calderon, has joined Orica as a non-executive director.

Calderon left his position at BHP earlier this year, when the miner carried out a massive change in its leadership structure.

However he did remain at the company to advise newly appointed CEO Andrew Mackenzie.

He will step into the role of non-executive director from 14 August.

Gene Tilbrook, a former senior executive at Wesfarmers, has also joined the company in the same role.

Orica chairman Peter Duncan said he is "delighted that Alberto and Gene have agreed to join the Orica board as both bring great experience and knowledge to Orica through their corporate backgrounds and senior executive experience".
