A death that occurred yesterday at an open cut coal mine in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales is being investigated by the state government.
It is the latest in a series of high-profile fatalities at Hunter Valley coal operations in recent years.
Previous incidents have included a 38-year-old woman who died in November 2013 when her light vehicle collided with a dump truck, a 35-year-old and 49-year-old man who died in April 2014 in a coal mine collapse, and a 53-year-old contractor who died in December 2016 after he was hit in the head by a truck tailgate.
While full details of the incident are still forthcoming, with the Resources Regulator expected to publish further information within the next 14 days to determine cause and circumstances.
