Downer gets $900 million project for NSW mine

Downer EDI Ltd has signed a deal with Idemitsu Resources Pty Ltd to provide mining services at the Boggabri open-cut coal mine in the Gunnedah Basin.

Downer EDI Ltd has signed a deal with Idemitsu Resources Pty Ltd to provide mining services at the Boggabri open-cut coal mine in the Gunnedah Basin.

Worth $900 million over five years, the contractor will provide drilling and blasting , mine planning and load and haul of both overburden and coal services at the mine in central west NSW.
 
 The contract is slated to commence in December 2011.

New equipment worth $114 million needed for the project will be funded via Downer’s cash flow and new finance, costing $58 million in 2011/12, $48 million in 2012/13 and $8 million in 2013/14.
