SRG Global has secured a $20 million contract with Downer for drilling works at BHP Mitsubishi Alliance’s (BMA) Blackwater coal mine in Queensland.

The two-and-a-half-year contract will see SRG provide production drilling at the site.

SRG, which will start work at Blackwater this month, will use its existing drilling fleet on the contract.

BMA awarded a $600 million contract to Downer to provide mining and related services at the Blackwater in February.

The three-year contract involves overburden removal and haulage, equipment maintenance and drilling services.

SRG Global was formed last month through a merger between SRG and Global Construction Services. The merger followed SRG’s acquisition of industrial contractor, TBS Group, in March.

Earlier this month, SRG announced it had won a four-year contract to provide equipment to Woodside Energy at the North West Shelf project and gas facilities in Western Australia.
