Doray begins gold mining in WA

The first new gold mining project in Western Australia’s Murchsion-Goldfields region has begun after as Doray Minerals begins mining.

Doray announced it has now started mining at its Andy Well Gold Mining Project near Meekatharra after it started exploration of the site in 2010, the ABC reported.

The company said an accommodation village which will house 126 workers is close to completion while the construction of a processing facility has started.

In a statement released earlier this year, the company said it expects the life of mine revenue to exceed $409 million.

Doray managing director Allan Kelly said the company’s board believes Andy Well would be WA’s next high-grade gold mine.

The company estimates Andy Well will produce 74,000 ounces of gold per annum with a total of 256,000 ounces of gold recoverable over a three-and-a-half year mine life.
