DMP approves Matsa Resources’ Fortitude gold project

The Western Australian Department of Mines and Petroleum (DMP) has approved Matsa Resources’ mining proposal and mine closure plan for its Fortitude gold project.

The Fortitude Trial Mining project forms part of the larger Lake Carey project in Western Australia.

The approval brings the company closer toward production at Fortitude, with initial mining operations set to begin in June 2017.

Production is expected to commence in mid-late July.

Matsa Resources is in discussions with mining contractors for the project and is negotiating with a number of nearby processing plants for the treatment of ore.

The company is awaiting final approval from the Department of Environmental Regulation for works and a licence to discharge water.
