Deloitte brings in new mining leader

Market analyst Deloitte Access Economics has appointed a new leader for their mining sector practice in Perth.

David Cormack has taken the role of National Mining Leader, returning to Deloitte as a partner after four years in senior executive roles at other specialist advisory firms.

Deloitte national leader for energy and resources Michael Rath said Cormack had 25 years of consulting experience in the mining industry across the entire industry value chain.

“His recent senior executive roles with other specialist global advisory firms and software providers have been dedicated to delivering innovative solutions that resolve technical complexity, improve productivity and unlock value,” Rath said.

Deloitte National Mining Leader – West, and Corporate Finance partner Nicki Ivory said Cormack would lead their consulting team to deliver projects combining all areas of expertise across strategy and operations, human capital, and change management.

Cormack said despite the challenge of soft commodity prices “there is broad consensus that operators need to continue to focus on productivity improvement, with technology and innovation the key enablers.”

“Deloitte has a strong, client-centric track record in these important areas and I am really looking forward to providing a hands-on and dynamic approach to our consulting mining sector offerings,” Cormack said.
