Operations at Integra Coal’s Glennies Coal Mine have been suspended pending investigation into the death of a miner on the weekend.

Dan Hill was fatally injured while assisting maintenance work on the longwall at the underground mine near Singleton in NSW.

The mine’s general manager Mick Thew said the company was deeply saddened by Hill’s death, who had been an employee at the mine since 2007.

Hill suffered head injuries and died at the scene.

“We are working closely with relevant government agencies and a thorough investigation will be conducted to understand the cause of the incident,” Thew said.
