Dacian Gold has released an update on its 100 per cent-owned Mt Morgans gold project in Western Australia, stating that construction of the treatment facility is now 90 per cent complete and first production is set for March 2018.
Dacian, whose open-pit Jupiter prospect — located in the eastern half of Mt Morgans — commenced operations in earnest on December 29 last year, while underground mining at Beresford and Alanson is now 873 metres ahead of feasibility study scheduling.
“Thanks to the outstanding work by our staff and contractors, Dacian has achieved what we said we would do”, explained Dacian chief executive Rohan Williams. “We remain on time and on budget, which means the project is being de-risked by the day and we are getting closer to production and cash-flow by the day.”
Thirty-seven staff positions have already been filled for work at the treatment plant, while work on a gas pipeline connects the Eastern Goldfields pipeline and Mt Morgans power station has been installed; the last of the remaining service and supply contracts are to be finalised in the next few weeks.
In addition, reverse circulation drilling results from the project’s Cameron Well are also expected to be released in the next few weeks.
“We are pushing ahead with our near-mine exploration campaign,” said Williams. “We are very positive about the opportunity at Cameron Well and we look forward to the results from the initial resource drill-out currently being completed.”
