Cylinder moulds cut to the core

UCSOLUTIONS has designed a cylinder mould for paste plant core testing.

Brad Scrivener developed the cylinder mould and formed UCSolutions to market it.

Scrivener helped commission the past backfill plant at Plutonic that pours processed milling waste mixed with cement into stopes.

During the paste pour, samples are collected for strength testing using the unconfined compressive strength process.

The cemented paste samples are poured into cylindrical moulds which are then cured in a humidifying room.

The samples are cracked open and the core is removed and compressed to determine the Mpa of the cured concrete.

This is done after seven days and repeated after 14 and 28 days.

The UCsolutions cylinder mould has a tag and a pull off strip up the side.

The cylinder is unzipped and then recycled.

According to Scrivener, this results in fewer core sample failures and less time stripping and cleaning.
