Coolgardie first for emergency challenge

The Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia (CME) is holding its annual Underground Mine Emergency Response Challenge from 7-9 November 2008 at the Coolgardie Gold Project owned by Focus Minerals.

The Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia (CME) is holding its annual Underground Mine Emergency Response Challenge from 7-9 November 2008 at the Coolgardie Gold Project owned by Focus Minerals.

This is the first time the event has been hosted at this location.

The event promotes emergency response and rescue within the mining industry throughout Western Australia.

According to the CME, the event is important in demonstrating the industry’s commitment to safety and health, and highlights the importance of well trained mine rescue teams to safety in the WA resources sector.

Thirteen mines rescue teams from across Western Australia will participate in the 2008 event.

Teams shall be put to the test with realistic scenarios to evaluate their knowledge and skills in fire fighting, first aid, search and rescue, rope rescue, breathing apparatus skills, team skills and theory.
