MACMAHON Holdings Limited has won the contract for Queensland Rails (QR) Jilalan Rail Yard Upgrade Project

MACMAHON Holdings Limited has won the contract for Queensland Rails (QR) Jilalan Rail Yard Upgrade Project. The objective of the project, scheduled for completion in late 2009, is to increase the capacity of the current Goonyella coal rail network.

Macmahon and MVM Rail (a subsidiary of Macmahon) will undertake the civil construction work on this project.

The work will include earthworks associated with up to 30 kilometres of new track-work, realignment of existing track-work, upgrades to existing roads and construction of rail crossings and construction of new wagon maintenance and administration facilities.

The Jilalan Yard is part of the Goonyella system for processing coal trains operating to the Hay Point and Dalrymple Bay ports.
