A coal train derailment in the Hunter region could leave the track out of action until at least Friday.
The derailment occurred early on Sunday morning along a section of track between Ardglen and Willow Tree.
The train was empty when 19 of its 82 wagons derailed. No one was injured.
The rear section of the train and locomotives will be released from the site this morning, with cranes arriving to remove the wagons.
A spokesperson for the Australian Rail Track Corporation asked motorist to take care driving past the site given its proximity to the highway.
The derailment has disrupted coal exports from the Gunnedah Basin.
