Coal tonnages down at Newcastle

The Port of Newcastle has seen coal throughput fall.

The Port of Newcastle has seen coal throughput fall.
Struggling to keep up with the constant demand, coal loader operator Port Waratah Coal Services said that throughput will reach only 95 million tonnes this year.
This is at least 10 million tonnes below its contracted target.
It stated that bad weather, train derailment and ongoing maintenance issues were behind the lower numbers.
