Coal rail decision

The National Competition Council has recommended that the Queensland Competition Authority retain access to the State’s coal railways.

The National Competition Council (NCC) has recommended that the Queensland Competition Authority retain access to the State’s coal railways.

Logistics and freight company Pacific National applied to have central QLD’s coal chain network regulated by the Australian Competition and Consumer Council (ACCC).

The draft decision from the NCC was welcomed by State treasurer Andrew Fraser.

Pacific National’s parent company Asciano will continue to push for ACCC regulation until a decision is finalised later this year.
