Mining magnate Clive Palmer has been named mining entrepreneur of the decade at an industry awards night.
On Twitter Palmer said the award was a tribute to other hard working staff at Mineralology.
"Honoured and humbled to be named mining entrepreneur of the decade by Government Australia magazine. Great tribute to efforts of our staff" he said.
According to Fairfax Media Palmer used the stage at the awards night to fire another salvo against the Gillard Government's mining tax.
Referring to famous prospector Paddy Hannan, Palmer said the Kalgoorlie gold rush "would have never started" if the mining tax had existed previously.
Former BHP Billiton chairman Don Argus, Linc Energy CEO Peter Bond, and fellow magnate Gina Rinehart were also honoured at the awards.
