Challenge to grow critical minerals

The South Australian Government has launched a global crowdsourcing challenge focussed on growing the state’s critical minerals processing and manufacturing capabilities and enriching the resources sector.

Thinking Critical South Australia is an open invitation to the most forward-thinking innovators, entrepreneurs and businesses across the globe to become a part of the industry in SA.

As global communities advance towards a greener, cleaner future with zero emissions, the demand for critical minerals is expanding at a rapid rate.

The challenge will aim to foster the growth of a world-class critical minerals sector in the state.

The SA Government is focused on building on the state’s rich critical minerals resources and flourishing mining industry.

By investing in the state’s critical minerals processing and manufacturing capabilities, the aim is to stimulate the growth of a rich and diverse ecosystem, creating a world-leading hub for critical minerals.

Participants of Thinking Critical South Australia will have the opportunity to win prizes and attractive incentives supplied by the challenge partners.

Five finalists will receive a cash prize of $50,000 each to help kick start their entry into SA.

With the support of the government and leading industry bodies there will be the opportunity to establish and grow the business, connect with the critical minerals industry across Australia, access a network of customers, suppliers and investors, and connect with many other exciting entrepreneurs working in the space.

Participants can be from inside or outside the mining sector, Australian or international, a start-up, mature business or university, as the government is eager to hear a variety of ideas and proposals for growing and enriching the critical minerals sector.

To get involved in Thinking Critical South Australia register for the challenge by January 31, 2022.
