Caterpillar subsidiary, Caterpillar Ventures, has partnered with Australia’s CORE Resources Innovation Hub to connect startup communities and corporate networks to international opportunities in the resources sector.
CORE was launched in October this year, providing a collaboration and innovation hub that aims to solve global resources and energy industry challenges though digital technologies. Caterpillar also launched their San Francisco hub this year to better engage with technology startups focused on mining, construction, and transportation.
The agreement enables members from both innovation communities to access space at each other’s hubs in Perth and San Francisco, and provides additional support between their online member communities.
CORE CEO Tamryn Barker said the partnership was “focused on the value being delivered by disruptive technologies”.
“CORE and Caterpillar Ventures both provide an environment that fosters connections between technology startups and industry professionals. This agreement aligns with our strengths and puts into practice a vision for Australia as a global resources technology hub,” she said,
“We are also excited about connecting with other international resources and energy hubs in the future, such as Houston and Santiago.”
Innovation manager at Caterpillar, Roberto Ortega, expressed enthusiasm over the opportunities the collaboration will bring.
“We’re excited about finding solutions to problems in the global mining, construction, energy and transportation sectors, and increasing our access to the pool of talent, energy and imagination out there,” he said.
