Carbon monoxide sensors recalled

The Queensland Department of Mines and Energy (DME) has released a safety alert to notify all coal mines of the recall of City Technology 4CF carbon monoxide sensors.

The Queensland Department of Mines and Energy (DME) has released a safety alert to notify all coal mines of the recall of City Technology 4CF carbon monoxide sensors.

According to the alert, some of the sensors have stopped responding to the presence of carbon monoxide due to a failed mode. The failure may show as an unexpected, catastrophic loss of sensitivity, inhibiting the sensor’s ability to detect and respond to carbon monoxide.

The Department is asking all mines to investigate if these monitors are used in their operations and to use the manufacturer’s procedure to identify the devices covered by the recall.
