Campbell Bros acquires minerals testing group

Campbell Brothers have acquired geochemical and metallurgical services company Stewart Holdings Group.

It bought the minerals testing company for approximately $222 million.

Stewart Holdings provides geochemical and assay services for explorers; analytical services to coal, metal and minerals trading market, and operates one of the largest metallurgical businesses in North America.

It will be integrated in to Campbell Bros. subsidiary ALS Group, which also provides minerals testing and technical services.

Campbell Bros managing director Greg Kilmister explained that “the acquisition of the Stewart Group will provide ALS with the opportunity to expand its geochemical services into new geographies.”

He went on to say that Stewart’s metallurgical facilities in Canada will allow the company to accelerate its global metallurgical business following the acquisition of Ammtec last year.
