An operator found himself trapped this morning when his bulldozer became partially engulfed in a live coal stockpile at Isaac Plains mine near Moranbah in central Queensland.
Emergency services responded to the incident at the Coal Handling Preparation Plant just after 6am this morning.
Firefighters worked to free the driver who was not injured.
Mine operator Ausenco said teams immediately implemented an emergency management plan.
"At this time we can confirm that the operator of the dozer has been safety rescued and is uninjured," Ausenco said.
Isaac Plains mine and the Queensland Mines Inspectorate are conducting investigations into the incident.
The operation is a 50/50 joint venture between Sumitomo and VALE Australia.
