BMA EBA gets up in vote

An enterprise bargaining agreement vote covering Bowen Basin BHP Billiton-Mitsubishi workers has passed

The result of Friday’s union ballot has been released, with 60 per cent of votes in favour of BMA’s EBA.

This vote ends a 23-month dispute, and will see workers granted a 15 per cent pay increase over three years, different safety conditions and greater roster flexibility.

“The agreement is, I think, the best we could have expected under the circumstances," Andrew Vickers from the Construction Forestry Mining and Engineering Union told the ABC.

"It's not as good as what we set out to achieve and had prices stayed where they were when the negotiation process started.”
