Birimian has selected DRA Global to provide engineering services to optimise the process flowsheet for its Goulamina lithium project in Mali, West Africa.
The scope of work will involve reviewing and interpreting metallurgical test work, the process design criteria and mass and water balance.
It will also extend to block and process flow diagrams, as well as the company’s mechanical equipment list.
The work aims to assist in developing and optimising the design of the process plant, which intends to produce a capital cost estimate (to +/- 10 per cent) required for the definitive feasibility study, due to be completed in the first quarter of 2020.
The company released positive results of its pre-feasibility study on the Goulamina project in July last year and in March this year received its environmental permit approval.
DRA has recently undertaken a number of lithium studies and projects with the personnel assigned to Birimian playing a part in the design and commissioning of three lithium projects in Western Australia in the past 12 months.
In a statement released by Birimian, the company said DRA “will contribute an unrivalled combination of knowledge and experience in an area which is crucial to the success of the Goulamina lithium project.”
