BC Iron boss steps down

Junior Pilbara iron ore miner BC Iron has annouced its managing director, Mike Young, will be stepping down in May.

In a statement BC Iron said the company's current finance and executive director, Morgan Ball, would be taking over the new position and the leadership transition would take place over the next two months.

Young will stay on at the company as a non-executive director, and BC Iron chairman Tony Kiernan said Young had played an “integral role” in the company's leadership.

“It was Mike's decision to step down and we are delighted that he will remain on the board where we look forward to his continued contribution,” he said.

Kiernan said Ball had been appointed as the new managing director after a significant review process.

He said Ball had: “… a deep understanding of the business and has been involved in a senior role in all transactions and strategy development since joining the company some three and a half years ago”.

Ball is a chartered accountant with over 20 years experience in the resources, logistics, and finance industries, and joined BC Iron in September 2009.
