Baal Gammon begins copper and silver production

Production at Monto Minerals’ Baal Gammon mine started this Friday.

Production from stage one of Baal Gammon’s copper and silver operation was kicked off by Snow Peak Mining, which have the rights to operate the mine under a Mineral Rights Agreement with Monto, the miner explained in a company statement.

The high grade copper and silver will be trucked to the nearby Mt Garnet processing facility.

The news is a turnaround for the mine.

In 2012 work was suspended at the operation after its former joint owner, Kagara Zinc, was forced to work on refinancing and structuring its business.

The mine was part of the wider sell off of Kagara’s assets, which included the Mt Garnet processing facility, after the miner entered administration.

At the time Kagara blamed falling commodity prices and a high Australian dollar for its collapse.

Monto predicts that it will start earning cash flows from Baal Gammon as soon as April this year.
