Avoca strikes gold in WA

Avoca Resources has posted record results at its Trident gold mine.

Avoca Resources has posted record results at its Trident gold mine in Western Australia.

The mine, located 130km south of Kalgoorlie, has produced 18,140 oz of gold from 96,666t of ore over the past four weeks.

Avoca managing director Rohan Williams said the operation is producing between 1.2 to 1.3Mtpa despite having a nameplate capacity of one million tonnes per annum.

According to Williams, the recent production levels will help the company achieve its 2010 targets.

“We remain confident in our target to produce 180,000 ounces at cash costs of approximately $450 per oz in 2009/2010,” he said.

Avoca is currently developing an exploration program to target a number of prospects in the Higginsville area.

“These results will underpin our aggressive exploration campaign to unlock more value from Higginsville,” Williams said.
