Australian Mining is now a media partner of the 2018 Queensland Mining Awards, co-hosted by the Bowen Basin Mining Club (BBMC) and Queensland Resources Council and taking place on on July 25 in Mackay.
Tickets for the event are now on sale via the BBMC website and submissions for this year’s awards are open until Friday April 27.
The awards feature seven categories, including the Time Saving Initiative Award; Innovation Award; Safety Award; Best Product Launch Award; Collaboration Award; Community/Staff Engagement or Equal Employment Opportunity Award; and Mining Contractor of the Year Award.
Recipients will be recognised for the quality of their mining industry work in terms of outcome and innovation. The Awards are presented in collaboration with the biannual Queensland Mining & Engineering Exhibition (QME), which takes place from 24–26 July.
Bowen Basin Mining Club Director Jodie Currie encouraged businesses of all sizes to consider an entry, particularly with the introduction of the new Collaboration category, which is also open to mining companies.
“The process of entering awards and gaining peer recognition is extremely validating for a business, particularly in the tougher economic climate that we now face,” she said. “Highlighting your business’s ability to collaborate with a major player to achieve outcomes or to significantly save costs for a client is well worth the effort of compiling an entry.
“Businesses like SMW Group and TEAM Engineering who have won Awards previously are now using that award to win business through peer recognition of their excellence.”
