Australian ‘fly-in, fly-out’ operator extends BHP Billiton mining contract

Alliance Aviation will continue to supply scheduled “fly-in, fly-out” chartered flights for BHP Billiton Iron Ore (BHPIO) miners after its contract was extended.

Australasia’s leading provider of contract, charter and allied aviation services, Alliance provides essential services to the mining and energy sectors in Australia.

The business currently operates a fleet from operational bases in Brisbane, Townsville, Cairns, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth ad Auckland.

“We are very pleased with the continuation of the contract and look forward to continuing to provide BHPIO-owned and operated Coondewanna and Barimunya airports,” said Alliance’s managing director, Scott McMillan.

In November 2015, Alliance entered into a contract with Austrian Airlines AG for the purchase of 21 Fokker aircraft to allow for revenue diversification with aircraft and part sales.
