Ausdrill wins drill and blast contracts

Ausdrill has been awarded several contracts worth $84 million.

The contractor stated that it has won a coal seam gas production and exploration drilling contract with Santos.

It will work in the Fairview area in Central Queensland through its subsidiary Energy Drilling Australia (EDA).

According to Ausdrill it will use its new Foremost Explorer III-65 drilling rig.

The contract is set to run for the next six months, with an option to extend it for an additional nine months in three by three monthly increments.

It is worth around $15 million for the 15 month period.

EDA is increasing its focus on coal seam gas drilling, stating that there are opportunities for long-term growth in the sector.

Ausdrill has also been awarded letters of intent for drilling and blasting at Mineral Resources’ Carina iron ore project as well as First Quantum’s Ravensthorpe nickel mine.

The contractor’s subsidiary Synergex has also secured a two year contract for explosives supply with Redline Drill and Blast at Sandfire Resources DeGrussa project.
