Ausdrill wins African mining contract

Ausdrill has won a US $540 million contract to provide mining services at Resolute Mining's Syama gold mine.

The work will be carried out through Ausdrill's subsidiary African Mining Services at Resolute's flagship operation, and will encompass all aspects of mining at the project.

The contract will run for around five years, and begins in September.

AMS has reached an agreement to purchase all the equipment currently used at the Syama gold mine, which is located in Mali's south.

According to Ausdrill managing director Ron Sayers, "this is the single largest contract ever awarded to the Ausdrill group, and recognises our ability to tackle large scale mining service projects in West Africa".

Earlier this month Ausdrill announced its intention to acquire the plant machinery company Best Tractor Parts.
