A new performance-based contract for the rail haulage of coal has been signed between Aurizon and long-term customer Syntech Resources, running between the Cameby Downs Mine and the Port of Brisbane.
With the option of an additional two year extension, Aurizon has signed a two-year agreement to haul up 1.7 million tonnes a year of coal from the 1st February 2016.
According to Aurizon’s Mauro Neves, the company’s operations can be made more competitive in the current environment by working closely with their customers.
“We have worked closely with Syntech Resources to deliver an agreement that provides operational flexibility and the opportunity to share in productivity enhancements and improvements in market conditions,” Neves said.
The Cameby Downs Mine is located in southeast Queensland, about 360km northwest of Brisbane, and is connected to the Port of Brisbane by the south-west corridor.
