Atlantic has achieved first ferrovanadium production from its Windimurra vanadium plant near Mt Magnet, in Western Australia.
With the first pour of vanadium and the plant’s successful commissioning the miner will now focus on accelerating production ramp up at Windimurra to met its previously forecast target of fully production by the first quarter of next year.
The Winidmurra mine reportedly now has a capacity of 6300 tonnes per annum, of contained vanadium, a jump from a previous resource of 5700 tonnes.
Atlantic‘s managing director Michael Minosora stated that this pour is a major milestone for the company.
He went on to reaffirm that the miner’s iron ore logistics chain is now in place, with first shipment from Geraldton expected some time this month.
