Asciano appoints John Mullen as new CEO

Rail and ports company Asciano has appointed John Mullen as its new chief executive.

Mullen is the former global head of transport and logistics company DHL, and will begin his role on 14 February.

He replaces the current CEO Mark Rowsthorn, who will remain as an employee of the company until 15 June 2011.

“John will lead Asciano into its next phase with his significant industry experience and proven track record, and will build on Mark’s work as CEO since the company’s demerger from the Toll Group in 2007,”Asciano chairman Malcolm Broomhead said.

“The company is now in a good position to pursue its strategic vision,” he added.

Asciano controls rail and stevedoring companies Patrick and Pacific National.
