Arson attack at Curragh coal mine

An arson attack late last month destroyed has destroyed approximately $3 million worth of mining equipment.

Two Drake low loaders were set alight last month, while parked at the entrance to the Curragh coal mine, according to the CQ News.

The fire occurred late at night.

The loader was on a mine site transporter and a steerable platform was parked on the ground nearby.

Both vehicles were to be sent to Rockhampton.

Miners in the area were the first to raise the alarm after witnessing smoke pluming from the machines.

Both machines were heavily damaged.

A Drake Trailers spokesperson told the CQ News that the immolated equipment was valued at around $3 million.
