Alliance Aviation extends FIFO contract with Newcrest

Alliance Aviation Services will provide FIFO services to Newcrest’s Telfer mine for a further three years after the miner signed up to extend the current contract.

Under the new agreement, Newcrest will stop twice weekly combined flights from Brisbane, Orange and Melbourne, but hold on to all 16 weekly services between Perth and Telfer, located in the eastern goldfields of West Australia.

Alliance Aviation managing director, Scott McMillan, welcomed the partnership with Newcrest.

“We are delighted to have extended our long term relationship with Newcrest and look forward to providing ongoing, safe, reliable and innovative services,” McMillan said.

Earlier this year Alliance Aviation signed extensions to its existing contracts with Incitec Pivot and the miner MMG.

Incitec Pivot extended the FIFO contract for its Phosphate Hill in North Queensland for another five years, while MMG added another 18 months at its Century mine.

These new contracts build on its other wins over the past 12 months, which include an extended contract for BHP's Groote Eylandt Mining Company (GEMCO) for another five years.
