Airlift from Russell Vale Colliery

A worker has been airlifted from the Russell Vale Colliery after suffering an injury underground.

The man was taken to St George Hospital in a stable condition with shoulder and lower limb injuries, and was also treated for neck pain.

Illawarra Mercury reported it was unclear how the man was injured.

Emergency services were called to the mine at 11:30am, and the man was brought to the surface on a mine stretcher by 12:30pm.

Russell Vale Colliery is operated by Wollongong Coal.
